Catherine Marshall began her musical studies with Dr. Elena Yarritu, much of her early formation as a flutist with San Diego Coastal Flutes. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, studying with internationally acclaimed artist Jill Felber. During her time at UC Santa Barbara, Catherine won First Place in the Music Teachers' National Association California State Woodwind Competition and First Place in the Santa Barbara Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Competition, receiving a five-thousand-dollar grand prize for her performance of Camille Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. She performed as principal flute of the UCSB Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.​ Catherine has performed in masterclasses with Jill Felber, September Payne, Marianne Gedigian, Claudia Anderson, Denis Bouriakov, and Isabelle Chapuis. Catherine currently works as a collaborative flutist and teacher, as well as a professional cantor. Catherine currently offers private lessons for all levels with a particular interest in beginners. Her studio is located at K & M Music in Sorrento Valley. Catherine is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California and is offering the Certificate of Merit program for the 2020-21 school year.
